Milwaukee Brewers vs. New York Yankees (1:05 PM ET)
LINE: Milwaukee Brewers (+138) vs. New York Yankees (-153) – total: 9.5 – view all MLB lines here
This is will be a battle of two great clubs who are well-equipped on both sides of the field. The Brewers have hard-hitters for days – Ryan Braun, Eric Thames, Travis Shaw, Orlando Arcia, etc. – and the Yankees have hitting machine and fantasy monster Aaron Judge (30 homers and 66 RBIs this season), who, by himself, can probably go toe-to-toe with a whole team when he’s one.
The pitching matchup will be between the Brewers’ Jimmy Nelson (7-4, 3.24 ERA) and the Yanks’ Masahiro Tanaka (7-7, 5.24 ERA). Their teams have won in each of their last two starts.
The Brewers won yesterday’s series opener, 9-4.
Writer’s prediction:
The Brewers (+138) win again, 6-4.
Houston Astros vs. Toronto Blue Jays (1:05 PM ET)
LINE: Houston Astros (+103) vs. Blue Jays (-113) – total: 9.5 – view all MLB lines here
The suddenly-cool, calm, and collected Blue Jays have now dominated the Astros for back-to-back contests, with the combined score being 19-4. Justin Smoak, Troy Tulowitzki, and Jose Bautista are powering together to hit .311 in the past week, and the struggling Josh Donaldson rose from the dead in yesterday’s win, blasting a go-ahead, three-run homer at the 5th. The four should have great confidence moving forward.
The American League West-leading Astros, of course, should never be expected to lose three in-a-row. They have their own set of great batters – Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, George Springer, etc., who will look to have a productive finale in Toronto.
Brad Peacock (6-1, 2.91 ERA), who has 80 strikeouts in just 55.2 innings this season will draw the start for the Astros, and he’ll be going against J.A. Happ (3-5, 3.47 ERA), who, meanwhile, has allowed three or less runs in six of his last seven starts.
Writer’s prediction:
The Astros (+103) take revenge, 6-5.
