TV Broadcast: CBS

Betting on the New Orleans Saints (8-2)

Point Spread: (+2.5)

The New Orleans Saints are one of the best teams in the NFC right now. Winners of a league high eight in a row, the Saints are playoff bound. The Saints won their eighth in a row last week in dramatic fashion. It took the Saints overtime to get past the Redskins, 34-31. Quarterback Drew Brees has not been asked to do everything this season. Instead, the future hall of fame inductee has done enough to win games. Brees also has more weapons to give the ball to this year.

Running backs Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram have combined to rush for 865 yards and 12 touchdowns on the year. Last week the two combined for 176 yards and one touchdown in last weeks win. This week, expect the Saints to give both backs their share of carries in this matchup.

Defensively, the Saints are a much improved team than last year. The Saints have won majority of their games this year because of the defense. That’s largely in part as to why the team has been successful this year. The Saints defense allowed 456 yards of total offense in last weeks win against the Redskins. This week, the Saints must improve against the passing game. Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins passed for 322 yards and three touchdowns against New Orleans secondary.

Betting on the Los Angeles Rams (7-3)

Point Spread: (-2.5)

The Los Angeles Rams are still the best team in the NFC West. Los Angeles saw their win streak come to an end last week against the Minnesota Vikings, 24-7. The Rams struggled to move the ball in the loss. The Rams offense started the game right, playing close until halftime. Then the offense was dominated in the second half. Quarterback Jared Goff was 23 of 37 for 225 yards and no touchdowns in the loss.

The Rams offense generated 254 yards of total offense on the road. Much lower than their average of 386 yards per game. Expect a better performance from Jared Goff at home in this weeks matchup. Todd Gurley should expect a bounce back game as well.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams were torched last week. Los Angeles allowed 451 yards last week. The Rams are allowing 352 yards and 18 points per game this season. Look for the Rams to try and stay discipline this week against the balanced offense attack of the Saints.

Writer’s Prediction:

This game should have a little added energy this week. Both teams are playoff contenders this year. Drew Brees is going to play a solid mistake free game. If the Saint can take care of the ball, expect this one to be a thriller. The Rams will be ready at home in this matchup. Take Los Angeles to cover. Pick: Rams (-2.5)
