Betting on the Washington Redskins (5-6)
The Redskins (with a 5-6 SU, 5-6 ATS on the season) saved their postseason hopes after a Thanksgiving night win at home against the NY Giants. They won 20-10 to end a two-game losing streak, even without running back Chris Thompson (injured) as rookie Samaje Perine carried the load with 100 rushing yards and 30 more on three catches. Quarterback Kirk Cousins connected with wide receiver Jamison Crowder on seven passes for 141 yards and a touchdown. On the defensive end, Washington recovered after giving up a 72 combined points in the previous two games, even if doing so against the Giants isn’t much of a task. All in all, it could be all that they need to take one from Dallas while on the road.
Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (5-6)
Is QB Dak Prescott even the same person without Ezekiel Elliot on the field? Nope. Dallas may be given a 1.5-point advantage in this game, but it’s hard to see the light for a team hurt so badly by a 6-game suspension of it’s most valuable player. In the last three games Elliott has missed, the Cowboys have lost each by at least 20 points. Their Thanksgiving day game was no different, falling 28-6 to the Los Angeles Chargers. The Cowboys have scored fewer than 10 points in three straight games for the first time in team history. Dak Prescott can only blame Elliott for so much, the rest falls on his shoulders.
Writer’s Pick
This writer thinks that the spread should be bigger, and pointed in the other direction. The Washington Redskins are hungry for the post season, and will stomp all over Prescott to dash all remaining hopes that the Cowboys may or may not have for making the 2017-18 playoffs. Pick: Washington Redskins by at least a touchdown.
