Betting on the Miami FL Hurricanes (13-2)

The Hurricanes are coming off a huge 80-74 win over No. 24 Florida State at home last Sunday, which should be enough for them to restore their confidence after a 64-54 loss to unranked Georgia Tech in a prior engagement. The Hurricanes are not exactly known for their offense this season, as they are only 11th in the ACC with just 73.8 points per game. What they lack in scoring they make up on defense, however.  Jim Larranaga’s Canes are fourth in the nation with 59.9 points allowed per contest. Sure they surrendered 74 points to Florida State, but it should be noted that the Seminoles are averaging 84.6 points this season. Clemson is still averaging 77.9 points, but Miami should not have much trouble figuring out the Tigers.

Miami is 2-1 ATS in the last three meetings with Clemson.

Betting on the Clemson Tigers (14-1)

Like the Hurricanes, Clemson is also relying mostly on its defense that puts opponents’ attacks on a tight chokehold. The Tigers are fourth in the ACC in points allowed with 63.5 points per game. They could adapt to the style of Miami’s style of play, but so does the Hurricanes. Clemson, however, has momentum, which could be the deciding factor in a contest between this two evenly matched programs.

The Tigers have won all of their last 10 games. They are also going to play at home, where they are 9-0 SU in their last nine games and 4-1 ATS in the last five.

Clemson has five players averaging in double figures led by Marquise Reed, who scored points in last Saturday’s 74-69 overtime win over the Louisville Cardinals at home.

Writer’s Prediction:

Miami wins, 66-63.
