Betting on the Clemson Tigers (23-8)

Clemson escaped with a 90-82 win over Boston College on Thursday. The victory didn’t look that well for the Tigers, though, as they allowed the Eagles to score way over than what Clemson normally would let opponents. The Tigers are 21st in the nation with just 65.3 points per game. That said, they still limited

BC to only 40.7 percent shooting from the field. Up against Virginia next, the Tigers probably will have to worry more about their offense.  Without Donte Grantham, Clemson would need to coax a better performance from Marcquise Reed than his six-point showing during a 61-36 loss to Virginia back on Jan. 23. Reed is the Tigers’ leading scorer with 16.4 points per game, and had 12 in the Boston College game. Clemson shoots 37.0 percent from the three-point area, hitting 12 triples against the Eagles. That should give the Tigers confidence heading into the showdown with the Cavaliers.

Clemson is 5-5 ATS in its last 10 games as the underdog.

Betting on the Virginia Cavaliers (29-2)

Expected to be a No. 1 seed in the upcoming National Tournament, Virginia, which defeated Louisville 75-58 on Thursday, will look to make it two in a row in the ACC Tournament postseason this Friday against a team it has already taught a lesson before. When the Cavaliers defeated Clemson last January, they limited their opponents to only 31.9 percent shooting from the field, which was not a surprise because that’s how Virginia operates for the past number of seasons under head coach Tony Bennett. The Cavaliers this season own the best defense in the nation. They are giving up only 52.8 points per game and have allowed opponents to shoot only 37.5 percent from the field. Clemson is already without its top player in Donte Grantham, whose college career was ended by a knee injury, so scoring against the Cavs should remain very hard for Clemson.

Virginia is 6-1 ATS in its last seven meetings with Clemson.
