After playing in four-straight games against ranked opponents, the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs will finally get some sort of a reprieve this coming weekend, when they host the lowly UMass Minutemen. Will the Minutemen put up a respectable effort? Or will the Bulldogs crush them? Georgia is looking to improve their +1400 odds to win the College Football Championship, while UMass serves as little more that a payday opportunity for bettors who may suspect that the 43.5-point spread is overinflated.

Betting on the UMass Minutemen (4-7 Overall / 0-0 Conference)
The good times ended for the Minutemen last Saturday, as they saw their two-game win streak end in a 35-15 home loss to the BYU Cougars. The Minutemen got off to a hot start, putting up 10-straight unanswered points in the first quarter, but it all went downhill from them after that, with the Cougars going on a 35-6 tear. Minutemen quarterback Ross Comis had 183 passing yards on 23-of-33 completions, but had no passing touchdowns to show. Instead, he got one on the ground to go with 29 rushing yards on 13 carries. Running back Marquis Young led the team with 51 rushing yards along with a touchdown on 19 carries. Up against the high-scoring Georgia program, the Minutemen will have to show up in the game with their defense in its absolutely sharpest form if Massachusetts would have any chance of at least keeping itself from getting charred beyond recognition. Middle linebacker Bryton Barr can definitely help his team with that after recording 13 tackles against BYU.
The under is 3-1 in Massachusetts’ last three games overall.
Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (9-1 Overall / 7-1 Conference)
Georgia running back D’Andre Swift was simply unstoppable last Saturday. Despite being under 100 percent healthy due to a groin issue, Swift still managed to churn out a career-best 186 rushing yards and a touchdown on 176 carries. With a week of rest, Swift should be in better shape when its time to face UMass. Swift should make a killing in that game, considering that the Minutemen are among the worst in the nation against the run. They are allowing 276.5 rushing yards per game and have just allowed 221 rushing yards to BYU. Conversely, Georgia is 15th in the nation with 236.6 rushing yards per game. Swift is also sixth in the conference with 80.8 rushing yards per contest. Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm should also have an easy time dissecting Massachusetts’s defense. He had 193 passing yards and two touchdowns with an interception while completing 13 of 20 passes against Auburn.
Georgia is 2-2 ATS in its last four games at home.
Writer’s Prediction
Georgia sleepwalks into a 47-10 win.
