Duke Blue Devils vs Florida State Seminoles Predictions, Picks, Odds, and NCAA Basketball Betting Preview – January 12 2019

As of Tuesday, the No. 13 Florida State Seminoles have yet to lose to a team ranked inside the top 25 of KenPom. That trend is in danger of getting blemished this weekend, as the ‘Noles are set to host the rampaging and No. 1 Duke Blue Devils, who are +175 to win the national title. Will Florida State trip up Zion Williamson and company? Or will the Blue Devils add Florida State (+5,000 to win the national title) to their growing list of victims this season?

Betting on the Duke Blue Devils (12-1 Overall / 1-0 Conference)

Zion Williamson and the Blue Devils are looking unstoppable again. As of this writing, Duke has a scheduled date with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Salem this Tuesday before taking on the No. 13 Florida State Seminoles this coming weekend. Duke is likely going to crush Wake Forest, which should give the Blue Devils a nice eight-game winning streak momentum ahead of a trip to Tallahassee. The last time Duke was on the court, it defeated the Clemson Tigers with ease at home, 87-76, on Jan. 5. Williamson played like a beast in that game, tallying a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds to go with two blocks and two steals. Williamson embodies the Blue Devils’ balanced game. Duke is second in the nation with 91.2 points per game on 49.2 field goal shooting percentage. On defense, Duke allows just 64.1 points per contest. Whether it’s protecting the rim or playing on-ball defense, Duke is among the best in the nation. In fact, the Tar Heels are tops in Division I ball in blocks (7.8 per game) and in steals (11.6).

Duke is 7-3 straight up (SU) and 4-6 against the spread (ATS) in its last 10 road games against the Seminoles.

Betting on the Florida State Seminoles (12-2 Overall / 0-1 Conference)

The Seminoles will face the Miami Hurricanes first this Wednesday before tackling their toughest test of their regular-season schedule this weekend in the Blue Devils. Florida State, however, isn’t a stranger to being put on the acid test. The last time the Seminoles saw action (as of this writing), they were taken down by No. 4 Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville last Saturday, 65-52. Florida State shot just 34.1 percent from the field against the Cavs, but the Seminoles should recover some of their form on offense against the lighter defense of Miami. Florida State is averaging 79.2 points per game and shoots 46.3 percent from the floor. The Seminoles are an aggressive team on offense, which is largely why they take plenty of free throws – 23.2 per contest – and also commit lots of turnovers. They will have to cut down on their miscues in order to keep in step with a team like Duke. They are picking up 15.3 turnovers per game.

Florida State is 3-0 ATS in its last three meetings with the Blue Devils.

Writer’s Prediction

Duke wins, 83-73.
