The Chicago Bears (+1800 to win Super Bowl 54) are the new kings of the NFC North, and one could only just imagine how annoying that fact is for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers (+1800), who used to be the ones ruling the division. A year since the two teams met in an unforgettable matchup at Lambeau Field, the Packers and the Bears will square off at Soldier Field for the first season of the 219 NFL season.

Betting on the Green Bay Packers (0-0)
There’s a new sheriff in the Packers’ sideline, as they have replaced Mike McCarthy with a former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur. A coaching change always means a significant shift in a team’s philosophy, but here’s the thing: the Packers will still go as far as where quarterback Aaron Rodgers takes them. Rodgers was sensational in last year’s Week 1 matchup with the Bears at home, throwing for 286 yards and three touchdowns to lead the team to a 24-23 come from behind victory. Rodgers will be the man to watch for the Packers in another meeting with the Bears, but running back Aaron Jones isn’t one to be forgotten. Jones did not play in the 2018 Week 1 win vs. Chicago and was barely felt in the second meeting last season several weeks later, but Green Bay is expecting big things from the tailback this 2019. The defense should bite harder this season for Green Bay, which allowed 22.0 points per game a year ago, as the Packers drafted a new linebacker in Michigan product Rashan Gary.
The Packers are 8-2 straight up (SU) and 6-4 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 meetings with Chicago.
Betting on the Chicago Bears (0-0)
The Bears was the biggest surprise in the NFC North in 2018. In Matt Nagy’s second season as the head coach of the historied football franchise, the Bears’ fanbase is expecting the team to be even better. Of course, a lot of this depends on quarterback Mitch Trubisky’s progression. Trubisky seems to have the job in the bag for at least the foreseeable future. In last year’s 24-17 win at home over the Packers, the former North Carolina Tar Heels star went 20 of 28 for 235 passing yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions. But everyone who watched both the Packers and the Bears last year knows that the real difference-maker for Chicago was its relentless defense that swallowed Rodgers all up. With Khalil Mack stalking Rodgers, the Bears were able to sack the Packers MVP seven times in two games. In the win at Soldier Field, Rodgers was taken down five times for a loss of 39 yards. The Bears’ secondary is also going to be a problem for Rodgers. Eddie Jackson intercepted Rodgers in the aforementioned Bears win over Green Bay.
The Bears are 4-1 ATS in their last five games.
Writer’s Prediction
Green Bay wins, 27-24.
