Betting on the Los Angeles Chargers (1-2)

The Chargers are reeling. After a great way to start the season via an overtime win at home against the Indianapolis Colts at home, the Chargers suffered two losses, the latest was against the Houston Texans at home, 27-20. But a cure to their malaise is on the horizon and it comes in the form of a match against the undisputed worst team in the NFL. Philip Rivers, who had 318 passing yards and two touchdowns without an interception in the loss to the Texans, should have a field day slicing Miami’s atrocious defense that ranks last in the league in scoring defense, total defense, and yards per play allowed. Miami opponents have feasted on Miami’s defense, and the Chargers should, too. The Chargers are fifth in the league with 408.3 total yards per game.

The Chargers are 7-3 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 road games.

Betting on the Miami Dolphins (0-3)

It’s hard not to feel sorry for Dolphins fans. They probably have aged decades over just a span of three weeks due to the Dolphins’ clear incompetence and apparent lack of will to win. The Dolphins have scored just 16 points this season and allowed 133. In their last game, they got pounded by the Dallas Cowboys in a 31-6 loss in Arlington. If anything, the Dolphins looked better on the field with Josh Rosen as their starting QB over Ryan Fitzpatrick. Against the Cowboys, Rosen threw for 200 yards on 18 of 39 completions. That’s not a passable performance, but quite an improvement for the Dolphins, which also speaks a lot about how pathetic the organization has been this season. Rookie wideout Preston Williams led the team with 68 receiving yards, while perennial breakout candidate DeVante Parker had 56 receiving yards on three catches.

The Dolphins are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 home games.

Writer’s Prediction

The Chargers win, 37-10.
