Betting on the Auburn Tigers (5-0 Overall / 2-0 Conference)

The Tigers beat Mississippi State like it owes them money last Saturday, 56-23. More specifically, it was quarterback Bo Nix, who played with a sense of vengeance, as he let the ball fly for 335 passing yards and two touchdowns on 16-of-21 completions. He didn’t stop there, as he also had 56 rushing yards and a touchdown on seven carries. Nix is enjoying his time behind a sturdy offensive line that has allowed just six sacks in five games. However, that same protection unit will be tested to the hilt by Florida’s elite defense that is tops in the SEC with 24.0 sacks. No other team in the conference has more than 15.0 sacks thus far this year. The Tigers are 16th in the nation with 38.0 points per game, but their defense isn’t too shabby either. Auburn is 18th overall with just 17.2 points allowed per contest.

The Tigers are great in covering the spread when away from home since last year, as they are 6-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last six road games.

Betting on the Florida Gators (5-0 Overall / 2-0 Conference)

Florida’s defense is as tight as the spaces between grains of sands in South Beach. The Gators have allowed a total of just three points over their last three games. They defeated the Tennessee Volunteers in Week 4, 34-3, and the Towson Tigers, 38-0, in Week 5. Both of those games were played in Knoxville, making this coming Saturday’s meeting with the Tigers Tennessee’s third-straight game at home. Not having to worry about travel and the fatigue that comes with it is a significant advantage for the Gators, who are 17th in the nation with just 14.7 points allowed per game. In the Towson game, Kyle Trask passed for 188 yards and two touchdowns, while Emory Jones added 74 passing yards and a touchdown. As good as the Gators’ pass rush is, their offensive line is a cause of concern after allowing three sacks to Towson. They have allowed five sacks in their last two games and eight on the season.

The Gators are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four home games, while the under is 3-1 in those contests.

Writer’s Prediction

Auburn wins, 26-23.
