Betting on the Kentucky Wildcats (3-3 Overall / 1-3 Conference)

The Wildcats had a wide receiver as their starting quarterback in last week’s 24-20 home win over the Arkansas Razorbacks. That’s Lynn Bowden Jr., who passed for 78 yards and a touchdown on 7-of-11 completions. He did more damage on the ground with 196 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries. It wasn’t until moments before kickoff that the Wildcats announced that Bowden would start over Sawyer Smith, and it’ ss likely to stay that way moving forward — or until Bowden melts in the pocket. Bowden’s versatility and athleticism are qualities the Wildcats need in a quarterback in order to have at least some measure of success against Georgia’s sturdy defense, so head coach Mark Stoops would rather roll the dice with Bowden and see what he can get from the wideout-turned-quarterback. The Wildcats are averaging 23.5 points per game and 384.8 total yards per contest.

The under is 3-0 in the Wildcats’ last three games.

Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (5-1 Overall/2-1 Conference)

If you hid under a rock over the weekend and emerged from it surprised to find out that the Bulldogs are now ranked 10th in the AP Poll, then the explanation all lies in Georgia’s back-breaking 20-17 double-overtime loss at home to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Errors doomed the Bulldogs in the South Carolina game. Quarterback Jake Fromm had three interceptions and a lost fumble against the Gamecocks, so the loss was more because of Georgia shooting itself in the foot. If anything, that’s something the Bulldogs can fix. And they have to make sure that doesn’t arise again, as a loss to Kentuck will almost likely eliminate them from the national title game discussions. Georgia is going to play angry but with more focus, as it attempts to get its mojo back, and the Wildcats do seem to be a good matchup for Georgia, which is still averaging 33.2 points per game while surrendering just 11.4 per contest.

The Bulldogs are 5-5 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 games.

Writer’s Prediction

Georgia wins, 47-13.
