Betting on the Baylor Bears (14-1 Overall / 4-0 Conference)
The Bears are on a roll and there are no signs of them slowing down. After wins over No. 22 Texas Tech Red Raiders and No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks, the Bears brushed aside the visiting Iowa State Cyclones in Waco on Wednesday 68-55. Baylor is building its success on a suffocating defense that has made life hard for opposing teams. The Bears have not allowed more than 57 points in each of their last four games. On the season, the Bears are sixth in the nation with just 57.9 points allowed per contest with opponents shooting only 38.0 percent from the field. Baylor likes to control the tempo of the game, and it’s doing it in part by getting plenty of offensive rebounds. The Bears are fifth overall in offensive rebound percentage and 16th with 11.7 offensive rebounds per game. Against Iowa State, the Bears had 17 offensive rebounds to just eight by the Cyclones.
The Bears are 4-0 against the spread (ATS) in their last four games.
Betting on the Oklahoma State Cowboys (9-7 Overall / 0-4 Conference)
The Cowboys appear to be deer in the headlights of Baylor with how they’ve been performing of late. Oklahoma State has yet to win in conference play and they extended their losing skid to four games after falling prey to the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday, 76-64. The Cowboys’ offense has simply been atrocious over that stretch, in which they have failed to score more than 50 points in three of four games. Even in the lone game that they did, the Cowboys only shot 40.3 percent from the field (vs. Texas). Someone has to step up and show the way for the Cowboys, who are only averaging 66.2 points per game this season. Cowboys leading scorer, guard Lindy Waters III, is making just 11.8 points per game but only had nine points against Texas and zero in the prior game, a loss to the TCU Horned Frogs in Fort Worth.
The under is 2-1 in the Cowboys’ last three games.
Writer’s Prediction
