Betting on the Louisville Cardinals (21-3 Overall / 12-1 Conference)

The Cardinals momentum is now on tsunami levels, as they have hit their 10th win in a row by defeating the defending national champions, Virginia Cavaliers, at home last Saturday, 80-73. The Cardinals relied on their efficient shooting to carry them past Virginia. They shot 51.0 percent from the field and went 9 of 22 from behind the arc. It helped them a lot that they have Jordan Nwora, who’s one of the best players in the nation, Nwora led the Cardinals with 22 points to go with seven rebounds and four 3-pointers. Louisville also shot well in the first meeting with Clemson this season, as it converted 48.1 percent of its shots from the field in an easy 80-62 home win at home over the Tigers late last month. Nwora scored only 10 points in that game, but he didn’t have to put up a lot of points, with four other Cardinals chipping in at least eight points each. Guard Darius Perry led the team with 19 points, while guard Samuell Williamson had 14 points off the bench. Louisville’s defense was a key factor in the victory, holding down Clemson to only 34.4 percent shooting from the field.

The Cardinals, who are allowing just 63.4 points per game, are 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last four meetings with Clemson.

Betting on the Clemson Tigers (11-12 Overall / 5-8 Conference)

If there’s one thing the Tigers should have learned from their 61-57 home loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on the road last Sunday, it’s that they should be wiser in choosing their shots. The Tigers shot an atrocious 35.7 percent from the field, with most of their missed shots coming from behind the arc. Clemson went just 9 of 34 from deep, with only Alex Hemenway converting at least half of his 3-point attempts for the team. The current season is deep enough for the Tigers to realize that they are just not a great outside-shooting squad. The Tigers are making just 30.9 percent of their 3-point shots, dragging their field goal percentage down to an abysmal 41.7 clip. Clemson seems to be too stubborn to realize that, though. In their loss to Louisville, the Tigers shot 11 of 38 from the 3-point region and 21 of 61 overall from the field.

The over is 5-1 in the Tigers’ last six home games.

Writer’s Prediction

Louisville wins, 66-60.
