A win is a win for the Titans, who once again had to grind out a victory on Sunday, defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars at home, 33-30. Ryan Tannehill was smooth under center in that game, tossing four touchdowns without a turnover on 18-of-24 completions. Tight end Jonnu Smith had his breakout of the season by catching two of Tannhill’s passes and finishing the game with 84 receiving yards on four receptions. Smith offers the Titans needed confidence in their passing attack with wide receiver AJ Brown possibly set to miss another game. Brown, who sat out Week 2, is nursing a knee bruise that’s reportedly going to need more time to heal. Tannehill could make quick work of Minnesota’s defense that has been in a state of disarray this early in the season, having given up the fifth-most passing yards per game (283.5) through two weeks of football.
The Titans are 3-3 against the spread in their last six games overall.
Betting on the Minnesota Vikings (+2.5)
Regular Season Record: 0-2
Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer told reporters following Minnesota’s 28-11 road loss to the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday that his team is “not very good at anything.” But it’s not yet the end of the world for the Vikings, who also lost in Week 1 to the Green Bay Packersat home, 43-34. The Vikings didn’t look good in either game, but those two losses and the words of Zimmer could spark a fire under the players. The Vikings should get better once Kirk Cousins starts to play like the highly paid quarterback that he is. Against the Colts, Cousins was intercepted three times and got sacked three times as well. If Gardner Minshew and the Jags could rack up 30 points against the Titans, Cousins and a receiving corps that has Adam Thielen and a backfield that features Dalvin Cook should be able to carve out Tennessee’s defense that’s been weak in rushing the quarterback and allows 265.5 passing yards per game.
The Vikings are 5-5 against the spread in their last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Vikings win, 26-22.
