Betting on the New York Jets (+3)

Regular Season Record: 2-13

The Jets have won back-to-back games.  That’s a nice momentum to have for them heading into the rematch with the Patriots, whom New York almost beat at home back in Week 9’s 30-27 loss. After defeating the Los Angeles Rams in Week 15 on the road, 23-20, Sam Darnold and the Jets victimized the Cleveland Browns at home last Sunday, 23-16. Darnold passed for 175 yards while completing just 16 of 32 passes but managed to throw two touchdowns and avoided getting intercepted. Darnold has three touchdowns and zero interceptions in the last two Jets games. Darnold will look to keep it going against the Patriots, who let Joe Flacco throw for 262 passing yards (18/25) and three touchdowns in Week 9. Breshad Perriman got the better of New England’s secondary in that game, as he collected 101 receiving yards and two touchdowns on just five catches.

The Jets, who are averaging 15.2 points this season, have seen the totals hit the under in seven of their last 10 road games, dating back to 2019.

Bet on the NY Jets

Betting on the New England Patriots (-3)

Regular Season Record: 6-8

Have we seen the last of Cam Newton in a Patriots uniform? The former NFL MVP who signed a one-year deal with the Pats in the last offseason could be benched in Week 17 in favor of Jarett Stidham, as Bill Belichick remains reticent about New England’s starter against the Jets. The Patriots are not going to play in the playoffs for the first time in a long while, but you can count on Belichick doing everything in his power not to get upset by Adam Gase and the Jets. The Patriots will look to slow down the Jets, who are still a bad team despite what they have shown of late. Whichever quarterback the Pats starts against the Jets, expect their offense to be run-heavy as usual. The Patriots are second in the league with a 51.64 rushing play percentage and fifth with 145.3 rushing yards per game. The Jets have allowed 111.0 rushing yards over their last three games.

The Patriots are  3-1 against the spread in their last four home games against the Jets.
