The No. 13 Texas Tech Red Raiders will look to add to the struggles of the Kansas State Wildcats this coming weekend. The Wildcats still have zero Quadrant 1 and 2 wins this season and ranked just 233rd in the NET Rankings, they are unlikely to make it to the National Tournament. That being said, the Wildcats know there’s always a chance to score resume-boosting wins in the Big 12. Check out our preview of this game below.

Betting on the Texas Tech Red Raiders (odds)
Record: 13-5 Overall / 5-4 Conference
Mac McClung and the Red Raiders are on a roll again. After losing to the Baylor Bears and the West Virginia Mountaineers last week, Texas Tech recovered by beating the LSU Tigers (76-71) on the road and the Oklahoma Sooners (57-52) at home. Defense was a key ingredient of the Red Raiders’ recent surge, as the Tigers and the Sooners combined for just 38.4 percent shooting from the field, though Texas Tech wasn’t great either in those contests, making only 38.1 percent of their shots. Then again, Texas Tech is more of a defensive team than an offensive one. The Red Raiders are averaging 74.5 points per game, which is 87th in the nation. Defensively, they are 11th with just 61.7 points allowed per game. Teams are shooting just 40.3 percent this season against the Red Raiders. When they defeated Kansas State in Lubbock earlier this month, the Red Raiders got 22 points off the bench from Terrence Shannon Jr. and 16 points from McClung, who leads the team this season with 16.8 points per game.
Texas Tech is 3-1 against the spread in its last four games on the road.
Betting on the Kansas State Wildcats (odds)
Record: 5-13 Overall / 1-8 Conference
Kansas State’s freefall continues. The Wildcats lost to the Kansas Jayhawks on Tuesday, 74-51, to extend their losing skid to nine games. The last time the Wildcats tasted a victory was on Dec. 29, when they defeated the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks by just two points (60-58) at home. Against the Jayhawks, Kansas State shot only 34.0 percent from the field. The Wildcats, desperate to erase Kansas’ big lead, resorted to launching long bombs but went just 5 of 21 from deep. During their current losing skid, the Wildcats have made only 38.8 percent of their shots and averaged only 57.2 points. However, their best shooting game over that stretch came against Texas Tech. In the loss to the Red Raiders, Kansas State hit 49.1 percent of their shots and limited Texas Tech to just 45.3 field goal shooting percentage. Nijel Pack, who leads the Wildcats this season with 11.7 points per game, had 17 against Texas Tech. Bench scoring will be crucial for Kansas State, which only got eight points from its second unit against Texas Tech.
The under is 5-1 in Kansas State’s last six games as the home team.
Writer’s Prediction
Texas Tech wins, 76-51.
