Betting on the Arkansas Razorbacks (+7)

Record: 25-6 Overall / 13-4 Conference

Arkansas found the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles’ glass slippers and threw them away, as Eric Musselman’s team ended Max Abmas and company’s Cinderella dreams in a hard-earned 72-70 win on Saturday. Arkansas shot just 37.7 percent from the field and went only 1 of 9 from deep, but dominated the glass which led to 16 more field goal attempts than Oral Roberts. Arkansas had 46 rebounds to just 35 by the Golden Eagles. Arkansas is not known for a highly efficient offense, but the Razorbacks rely on the volume of offensive opportunities generated by their pace. The Razorbacks are sixth in the nation in field-goal attempts per game  (65.1) and 11th in scoring with 81.7 points per contest. Look for Arkansas to push the pace on offense against Baylor while playing decent defense at the very least. Arkansas is eighth in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency with just 89.0 points allowed per 100 possessions.

The under is 5-0 in Arkansas’ last five games overall.

Betting on the Baylor Bears (-7)

Record: 25-2 Overall / 13-1 Conference

Even when they were not at their best, the Bears still found a way to score a win over a heavyweight program, defeating the Villanova Wildcats in the Sweet Sixteen round last Saturday, 62-51. Baylor trailed at the half and finished the game with just a 44.1 field goal percentage and a horrendous 3-of-19 shooting from deep, but proved that its defense can win them a high-pressure game. Baylor held Villanova to just 43.5 percent shooting from the field and forced the Wildcats to commit 16 turnovers. Baylor will be a whole lot scarier once it gets its 3-point shooting back, and even against Arkansas, you can expect the Bears to keep shooting.  Baylor is tops in the nation with a 40.8 3-point shooting percentage and 14th with 10.0 threes per contest.

Baylor is 9-3 against the spread in its last 12 games in neutral site games.

Writer’s Prediction

Baylor wins, 80-74.
