Betting on the New York Jets (+8.5)
Regular Season Record: 3-10
Fourteen weeks of regular season football have passed and the impression of the Jets remains the same: they are bad. In Week 14, Zach Wilson and the Jets lost to the New Orleans Saints at home, 30-9. Wilson couldn’t get anything going. He was only 19/42 for 200 yards and zero touchdowns, but at least he avoided getting intercepted. The rookie quarterback will meet the Dolphins for the first time in his career this coming Sunday, as he was not around when Miami beat the Jets in East Rutherford back in Week 11, 24-17. The Dolphins are coming off a bye, so some of their momentum from a lengthy win streak might have worn off, giving New York some motivation to go aggressive early.
The Jets, who are averaging 17.4 points per game, have seen the total hit the over in s four of their last five Week 15 outings.
Betting on the Miami Dolphins (-8.5)
Regular Season Record: 6-7
As mentioned earlier, the Dolphins are coming off a bye in Week 14. Before taking an extra week of rest, Miami stretched its win streak to five games with a 20-9 home win over the New York Giants. Tua Tagovailoa passed for 244 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 30/41 completions against the Giants, while also not throwing a single interception. Outside of the one pick he threw in the first meeting with the Jets, Tagovailoa looked solid in that game, as he finished with 273 passing yards and two touchdowns on 27/33 completions. It’s not hard to imagine Tagovailoa and the Fins being that effective again versus the Jets, who have not shown much improvement since the last time these two teams met.
The Dolphins are 6-0 against the spread in their last six games after a bye week.
Writer’s Prediction
The Dolphins win, 24-10.
