Betting on the New England Revolution
The New England Revolution aren’t looking like last year’s MLS Cup runners-up. The Revs were handily dismantled in a 4-1 loss to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, allowing three goals in the opening 12 minutes of the match alone.
[sc:Soccer240banner ]The Revs don’t necessarily lack the star power needed to win them matches. They have a loaded midfield with Teal Bunbury, Lee Nguyen, Kelyn Rowe and Juan Agudelo as well as a devastating striker in Charlie Davies. But New England has been absolutely lost without its leader in Jermaine Jones, who is still out with a groin injury.
Nevertheless, expect New England to have some success against a struggling New York City defense. Davies has scored a team-high seven goals this season. Meanwhile, Rowe, Nguyen, Bunbury and Agudelo have combined for 13 goals and 12 assists. A big scoring night may be what they need to get themselves out of a five-match losing streak.
Despite their struggles, the Revs have been excellent at home. They’ve only lost one of their 10 league matches at Gillette Stadium.

Betting on New York City FC
New York City FC may have entered this match with a big win over Toronto, but sketchy defending had them escaping with a 4-4 draw. New York City FC are unbeaten in four of their last five matches.
New York City will have plenty of things going for them ahead of this match. They won the first matchup against New England back in March – a 2-0 home victory. David Villa scored the game-winning goal in the 18th minute of the match, and assisted in Patrick Mullins’ 83rd minute strike to add some insurance.
Villa and Mullins appear to be in top form ahead of this clash at Gillette Stadium. Villa has scored three braces in the last four matches, while Mullins has scored two goals and assisted in another. The two could get some more support with English Premier League legend Frank Lampard possibly joining New York City FC for the first time.
New York City FC shouldn’t be too concerned about their questionable defense in this match. The Revs haven’t been firing on all cylinders recently, scoring just three goals in their last four matches.
Writer’s Prediction
New York City FC storm to a 2-0 win.
