Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide (12-0 Overall / 8-0 Conference)

The Crimson Tide, as usual, took care of business on Sunday, as they downed the Auburn Tigers at home in Tuscaloosa to the tune of a 52-21 score. Alabama was in some shaky moments in the first half, but put it together in a monster second half performance in which they outscored the Tigers, 35-7. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa showed up like he always does and showers Auburn’ defense with 324 passing yards and five touchdowns without an interception on 25-of-32 completions.  Tagovailoa has thrown 25 touchdowns with no picks over Alabama’s last eight games. After winning all their games in the regular season, each in dominating fashion, it’s hard to second guess this Alabama squad that entered Saturday second in the nation in scoring with 48.6 points per game and third in scoring defense with only 12.7 points allowed.

Alabama is 3-1 straight up (SU) and 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last four games against Georgia as the road team.

Betting on the Georgia Bulldogs (11-1 Overall / 7-1 Conference)

After silencing the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and its vaunted ground attack in a 45-21 win at home last Saturday, Georgia will turn its attention on trying to cripple Alabama’s offense. That’s going to be easier said than done, but the Bulldogs are among the few teams in the nation which are elite on both ends of the field. Against the Yellow Jackets, Georgia quarterback Jake Fromme racked up 175 passing yards and four touchdowns on just 13-of-16 completions. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs’ backfield came up big, too, as running back D’Andre Swift had 105 rushing yards and a touchdown. All told, the Bulldogs had 285 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 42 carries. Obviously, Alabama’s defense presents a huge challenge for Georgia, but the Bulldogs can draw encouragement from the fact that the Crimson Tide have allowed 36 points in their last two games after blanking LSU and Mississippi State in consecutive fashion earlier this month.

On the season in their home state Georgia is 8-0 SU and 4-3 ATS, although they are 3-1 ATS in their last four games overall.

Writer’s Prediction

The inevitable happens as Alabama wins and covers with a final score of 37-21.
