Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide (odds)

Record: 14-3 Overall / 9-0 Conference

Alabama is no longer just a football school. At least that’s what the Crimson Tide’s basketball team has been successfully proving this year. The Crimson Tide defeated the Kentucky Wildcats on Jan. 26 in Tallahassee on Jan. 26 for their 10th win in a row. Still undefeated in conference play, the Crimson Tide will now try to add a huge non-conference road win when they visit Oklahoma. For Alabama, it hopes that its shooters will be able to recover their recent scorching touch from deep. Alabama went only 6 of 20 from deep in the Kentucky game, but in the five games prior to that, the Crimson Tide drained 76 threes on 43.4 percent accuracy. Alabama is 17th in the nation with 81.1 points per game average and fourth with 10.9 3-pointers per contest.

Alabama, which is 19th nationally with 8.7 steals per contest, is 8-1-1 against the spread in its last 10 contests.

Betting on the Oklahoma Sooners (odds)

Record: 10-4 Overall / 6-3 Conference

Oklahoma is on a winning streak of its own. The Sooners defeated the No. 5 Texas in Austin on Jan. 26, 80-79.  The Sooners leaned on a balanced scoring attack, with five players scoring in double figures in that game, led by Kai Jones, who had 15 points and 10 rebounds. Donovan Williams, meanwhile., came off the bench and chipped in 11 points. The Sooners will enter Saturday’s game against Alabama averaging 77.6 points per contest — currently 51st in the nation. Although they aren’t the most efficient scoring team around, the Sooners play tight and disciplined basketball that has them 11th in the nation with just 10.3 turnovers per game. They are also seventh with a 12.7 turnover percentage. Oklahoma’s discipline extends to its defense, as evidenced by the fact that the Sooners are committing just 14.1 fouls per game – sixth overall.

Oklahoma is 5-0 against the spread in its last five games at home.

Writer’s Prediction

Oklahoma wins, 79-76.
