Betting on the Arizona Cardinals (+2.5)
Regular Season Record: 0-0
Kyler Murray and the Cardinals went 8-8 in 2020, which was good for only third in the NFC West. However, they still managed to get into the playoffs as a wild card team. There is so much to like about this Arizona team this year. Murray will be once again surrounded by great weapons. Kenyan Drake is gone, but Chase Edmonds is ready to assume the RB1 role, while the Cardinals also acquired former Pittsburgh Steelers starter James Conner. Downfield, DeAndre Hopkins should continue to embarrass cornerbacks a year after posting 1,407 receiving yards and six touchdowns. The big names don’t end on offense. With JJ Watt now in Arizona, the team’s pass defense are bound to show much improvement. Just think of Watt and Chandler Jones teaming up to seek and destroy opposing quarterbacks.
The Cardinals are 8-3-2 against the spread in their last 13 games as the underdog away from home. The total has hit the under in all of Arizona’s last eight road games.
Betting on the Tennessee Titans (-2.5)
Regular Season Record: 0-0
The Titans had success in the AFC South last season, as they finished with an 11-5 record. That was on the strength of their offense that ranked fourth in the NFL with 29.6 points per game average. Tennessee also was fifth in total offense with 385.4 total yards per contest. That could even be better this season, with the addition of Julio Jones in the offseason. Jones and AJ Brown are going to stretch the field, which means bigger spaces for running back Derrick Henry to cover. That’s a scary thought for opposing defenses. The trio of Henry, Brown, and Jones will feed off each other’s unstoppable nature, and the thought of the three alone on the field together must be making Ryan Tannehill smile every night, heading into the 20201 NFL season.
The Titans are 4-4 against the spread in their last eight games. The over is 4-1-1 in Tennessee’s last six home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Titans win, 27-24.
