Midwest No. 12 – Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans (Overall: 29-4, Conf: 17-3)
Team Strengths
Arkansas-Little Rock’s defense pretty much explains why their 2015-16 campaign has been successful. The Sun Belt conference champions currently rank third-best in the country in scoring defense (60.4 PPG) and ninth in shooting defense (39.0%). They’ve also been quite successful on offense thanks to their hot three-point shooting (38.9 %).Speaking of which, the pair of Josh Hagins (13.1 PPG) and Marcus Johnson Jr. (12.7 PPG) will play an integral part in the team’s overall offense. The two are putting up 25.8 points combined this season and are shooting 38.1% and 46.0% respectively from down town.
Team Weaknesses
Arkansas-Little Rock doesn’t really have a dependable inside presence, as the team’s mostly living and dying through its outside game. But when the shots don’t fall in, this is where the Trojans have no choice but start going for high-percentage shots near the cup. That said, their fate will greatly depend on how Roger Woods, who is putting up 9.5 points and 4.0 boards, will be able to provide the team some much-need productions in the shaded lane.
Rebounding has also been an issue for the Trojans this season. Their only averaging 32.8 boards as a team, which is likely an effect of their lack in size. Hence, they’re bound to be in trouble against much bigger or lengthier foes especially on times when their shooters can’t find their strokes.
