Atlanta Hawks vs. Golden State Warriors Predictions, Picks and NBA Preview – March 1, 2016

Is there any team that can stop the Golden State Warriors’ rampage this 2015-16 NBA season? The formidable Oklahoma City Thunder found out once again on Saturday that no lead is safe against Golden State, especially with Stephen Curry’s ability to drain game-winners from literally anywhere on the hardwood floor.

The Warriors are now headed back to Oakland to clash with the Atlanta Hawks and will look to extend their winning ways at Oracle Arena to new heights. However, Atlanta is still one of the more dangerous teams in the league, and the Dubs have to be cautious on Tuesday night indeed.

Will the Hawks finally give Bay Area basketball fans something to mourn about, or will the Dubs remain perfect at home this season? Let’s take a closer look at this blockbuster showdown below. With the 87-76 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, the Atlanta Hawks have now reeled off back-to-back double-digit victories to put them in good shape for their rematch against Golden State on Wednesday night.

In spite of the low-scoring affair, Atlanta’s balanced offense once again prevailed over a tough opponent. Al Horford had a solid double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds, while former Golden State Warrior Kent Bazemore scored a team-high 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting to go with six boards.

But again, that 87-point outing has got to be a huge concern for the Hawks, who also failed to score in triple digits in last Monday’s loss to the Warriors at Philips Arena, 102-92.

The Hawks have got to continue their excellent ball movement in order to stand a chance against Golden State. They easily won the assists battle against the Hornets on Sunday, 29-16, and they’re the actually the second-best team in the league behind the Warriors with an average of 25.5 dimes per game.

Then again, Atlanta’s pretty much just walking into the buzz saw that is Oracle Arena, where they have lost five of their last six contests (SU/ATS). And considering that the Dubs have literally been flawless on their own home court, the Hawks would pretty much need a perfect performance on Wednesday themselves both on offense and defense to pull off the stunning upset.

Betting on the Golden State Warriors (53-5)

Atlanta Hawks vs Golden State Warriors Predictions and Preview

We pity the folks who missed out on the Golden State Warriors’ thrilling 121-118 overtime victory over the Thunder in Oklahoma City this past Sunday. Not only did the Warriors become the first team to clinch a playoff berth this season, but the NBA’s current poster boy in Stephen Curry also put on a performance for the ages.

First off, Curry finished with 42 points in that game – his third-straight 40-point night in as many games. He also broke his own record of three’s made in a single season on Sunday, giving him a whopping 288 three-pointers already with 24 games still waiting to be played. To cap it all off, Steph’s 32-foot game-winner with less than a second left in the OT also tied the NBA record of 12 three-pointers in a single game.

It wasn’t just Curry who had a magnificent night on Sunday, as his fellow teammates pitched rather tremendously to prevail over gritty OKC. Klay Thompson racked up 32 points (with several huge buckets late in regulation and overtime), and Draymond Green ended up with a weird double-double of 14 boards and 14 assists as he failed to get his shooting groove going.

However, the Warriors still exposed a slight chink in their armor during that game: rebounding. The Thunder out-rebounded them by a wide margin, 62-32, and those extra possessions ultimately gave OKC a terrific shot at finally overcoming that Golden State hump.

Still, consider the Dubs’ lackluster effort on the boards on Sunday as an anomaly, as they are still currently fourth in the league with 46.3 rebounds per contest. In addition, they’ll be taking on the Hawks up next, who are merely ranked 28th in that department this season.

Plus, we simply can’t ignore how Golden State has owned Atlanta of late. The team has won seven of its last eight games overall against the Hawks (6-2 ATS), and we haven’t even reiterated just how invulnerable the Dubs have been at home because we know you’re probably sick of hearing about that fact by now.

Writer’s Prediction

The Warriors remain a perfect 25-0 at home this season after handily dispatching the Hawks, 119-102.
