Betting on the Baylor Bears (-4.5)
Record: 22-5 Overall/10-4 Conference
Baylor quickly rebounded from a road loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Feb. 16, as the Bears took down the TCU Horned Frogs at home last Saturday, 72-62. It was an ugly win for Baylor, but the Bears will take that any day. The Bears shot only 2/11 from deep and lost the rebounding battle, 35-29. However, they forced 19 turnovers and basically won the game on the free-throw line, where they went 22/29 as against TCU’s 6/11 showing on the charity stripe. Being as aggressive in the rematch with Oklahoma State will be a priority for the Bears, as they only went 10/14 from the foul line in their 61-54 home loss to the Cowboys back in January.
Baylor, second in the Big 12 with 106.2 points per 100 possessions, has seen the total hit the Over in two of its last three games overall.
Betting on the Oklahoma State Cowboys (+4.5)
Record: 13-13 Overall/6-8 Conference
Consistency is what the Cowboys hope to establish after alternating wins and losses over their last five games. In their most recent game, the Cowboys scored an 82-79 overtime win at home over the Kansas State Wildcats last Saturday, which came after a 76-62 road loss to the Kansas Jayhawks on Feb. 12. Bryce Thompson led Oklahoma State with 19 points in the first meeting with the Bears, and he could still be hot after scoring 23 points in the win over Kansas State. Oklahoma State could also get hot again from deep after going 9/22 on their 3-point attempts in the Kansas State game. The Cowboys are not an elite outside-shooting squad, but Thompson might look to launch 3-pointers early after going 4/7 on his threes against the Wildcats.
Oklahoma State is 2-1 against the spread in its last five games as the home team.
Writer’s Prediction
Baylor wins, 71-65.
