Line: Boston Red Sox vs. Texas Rangers – view all MLB lines
Doug Fister (0-1, 4.91 ERA) makes his second start for the Red Sox later tonight in the second game of a three-game set in Arlington. Fister had a so-so debut in Red Sox threads, allowing three earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks issued in five innings of a 7-4 win on Jun. 30. He didn’t earn a decision so tonight gives him another shot at taking his first W as a Red Sox. The Rangers, meanwhile, will have Andrew Cashner plying his trade on the mound in Game 2. Cashner is 3-7 with a 3.87 ERA in 13 starts this year and has lost his last two starts, in which he gave up nine earned runs on 16 hits across nine total innings.
Writer’s Prediction
Boston wins, 5-3.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (10:07 PM ET)
Line: Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers– view all MLB lines
Alex Wood is a man possessed right now, racking up nine wins on the season against zero losses to go with a 1.83 ERA. And tonight, he’ll look to stretch his unbeaten run against the very capable Diamondbacks team that’ll have Zack…Godley on the mound. Godley is no chump himself, as he’s got a 3-2 record and a 2.67 ERA. Moreover, opponents have hit just .191 against the right-handed Godley this season. The under is 3-1 in Godley’s last four starts while the Dodgers are 4-1 in Wood’s last five at home.
Writer’s Prediction
The D’backs win, 4-3.
