After suffering a three-game skid, the Celtics averted further damage by stringing together four consecutive victories. The last time they were on the court, the Celtics beat up on the Charlotte Hornets in a 134-016 win at home on Wednesday. It’s not going to be that easy for Boston, however, this Saturday on the road versus a team like Houston, but the Celtics definitely have the psychological advantage so far. For one, they have defeated the Rockets at TD Garden on Dec. 28, 99-98 – a game that saw Kyrie Irving and company erase a 26-point deficit. Irving led the Celtics then with 26 points, but the real star for Boston in that win was its defense. The Celtics held the high-scoring Rockets to only 37.5 field goal shooting percentage and forced them to commit 16 turnovers. Boston is second in the NBA with only 99.9 points allowed per game.

Boston is 5-1 ATS in its last six meeting with the Rockets.

Betting on the Houston Rockets (48-13)

Point Spread: (click here)

The last time the Rockets lost, Isaiah Thomas was still pretending he’s committed to the Cavaliers. Houston is riding an insane 14-game win streak, which has allowed it to wrestle the league’s best record away from the Golden State Warriors. The Rockets were last seen on the court Wednesday in LA, taking a 105-92 win against the L.A. Clippers. The offensive firepower of Houston has simply been too much for the Rockets’ opponents. With James Harden and Chris Paul alternating in orchestrating the team’s attack, the Rockets have managed to average 112.9 points over the past 14 games. They have also made an average of 14.6 three-pointers during that stretch. Boston is a capable defensive team, but the Rockets hit 14 threes against them in the two teams’ first duel this season. Harden scored 34 points in that game. Speaking of Paul, the Point God was not around then because of a left adductor strain. With him in a picture, the Rockets should be in a better position to win against Boston.

Houston is 4-2 ATS in its last six home games against the Celtics.

Writer’s Prediction:

Houston wins,  107-101.
