Betting on the Chicago Bears (+9)

You have to give it to Brian Hoyer despite a 17-16 Chicago loss to Jacksonville Sunday. The journeyman quarterback was solid anew, passing for 302 yards on 30 of 49 completions to extend his streak of 300-yard game to four.

The Bears’ passing attack that entered the Jacksonville match fourth in the league in yards per game may have another star in the making with second-year wideout Cameron Meredith busting out yet another sterling performance. Meredith had 113 receiving yards on 11 catches against the Jaguars, which comes a week after he recorded 130 receiving yards with a touchdown in a Week 5 loss to the Colts.

Hoyer, an up-and-coming Meredith, and a tried and tested Alshon Jeffery are potent enough to molest Green Bay’s shaky pass defense that was abused by Dak Prescott and the Cowboys on Sunday.

Chicago’s backfield produced 92 rushing yards in Week 6 and it’ll have to do better (or at least be active) against Green Bay to keep the Packers’ defense from focusing too much on the Bears’ aerial game.

Chicago is 2-1 ATS in its last three games at Lambeau Field.

Betting on the Green Bay Packers (-9)

The Packers have a few days of rest to try to forget a 30-16 home loss to Dallas in Week 6 before plunging back into action this coming Thursday against Chicago.

Green Bay had 372 total yards against the Cowboys but the Packers seemingly had hard time reaching the end zone, as they were just 1-for-4 when inside Dallas’ 20-yard line. Aaron Rodgers passed for 294 yards but only had one touchdown pass to go with an interception.

Green Bay’s backfield also sputtered, only producing 78 yards on 24 rushes. Eddie Lacy, who only had 65 rushing yards, however, could have better numbers in the next game, considering that the Bears are a bit faulty against the rush.

Speaking of rushing defense, the Packers remains a force to reckon with in that department despite getting heavily wounded by the Cowboys, who rushed for 191 yards. Green Bay is third in the league with only 72.4 rushing yards allowed per contest.

Green Bay is 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five games against the Bears.
