Betting on the Chicago Bears (+4.0)
Regular Season Record: 3-8
The losses continue to pile up for the Bears, who are now on a four-game losing streak after absorbing a 27-24 blow at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons on the road Sunday. That being said, the Bears remain entertaining to watch because of one man: Justin Fields. The electric quarterback passed for 153 yards and a touchdown with an interception on 14/21 completions and also rushed for a game-high 85 yards to go with a TD versus the Falcons. Fields is doing it all, and so long as he’s under center for Chicago and able to move around, the Bears can find ways to score. Chicago has even scored at least 27 points in each of its last four games, so the onus will be on its defense to show up versus the Jets, whose offense just mightily sputtered in Week 11.
The Bears are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games versus the Jets, dating back to 2002.
Betting on the New York Jets (-4.0)
Regular Season Record: 6-4
After scoring a 20-17 upset win over the Buffalo Bills at home in Week 9 followed by a bye in Week 10, the Jets looked poised to continue their winning ways but got stunned by the New England Patriots in Foxborough Sunday. A game-winning punt return by the Pats handed New York a 10-3 loss in Week 11. That loss hurts for the Jets, especially since their offense barely did anything to complement the superior work of their defense. In any case, the Jets could get it going on the offensive side of the ball in Week 12 against the Bears’ defense which is struggling to stop anything at the moment. Chicago started Week 11 ranked just 25th in the NFL with 24.7 points allowed per game.
The Bears are 2-1 against the spread in their last three home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Jets win, 24-17.
