The Clemson Tigers made sure they came out of Week 8 with their record still unblemished after embarrassing the 16th-ranked NC State Wolfpack at home. They will look to put another program to shame this coming weekend, when they travel to Tallahassee to face the unranked Florida State Seminoles, who are coming off a win themselves. Going into the game, Clemson is priced at +350 to win the College Football Championship, trailing Alabama who is favored at -250.

Betting on the Clemson Tigers (7-0 Overall / 4-0 Conference)
Clemson was not going to be denied of a win last Saturday, as the nation’s No. 2 program sent the NC State Wolf Pack crashing and burning in a 41-7 victory at home. Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence came up big, passing for 308 yards and a touchdown on 26-of-39 completions without an interception. Lawrence’s arm and, as usual, Clemson’s backfield delivered the goods. Running back Travis Etienne rushed for only 39 yards on 15 carries, but he scored three touchdowns. Overall, Clemson had 91 rushing yards and four scores on the ground. That same Clemson backfield is going to be a huge headache for the Seminoles’ defense. Etienne paces all players in the ACC with an average of 114.3 rushing yards per game. What’s more concerning for Florida State is Clemson’s highly rated defense that’s allowing just 14.5 points and 283.5 total yards per contest, both of which are ranked inside the top five in the nation.
Clemson is 6-4 ATS in its last 10 meetings with the Seminoles.
Betting on the Florida State Seminoles (4-3 Overall / 2-3 Conference)
Clemson’s backfield is good, but the Seminoles sure have a talented running back themselves – arguably even better than Etienne. That’s sophomore tailback Cam Akers, who finished last season with more than 1,000 rushing yards. While it hasn’t been the same kind of year this time around for Akers, he’s still capable of putting opposing defenses on its toes. Take for example last week’s 38-17 Florida State win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at home in which Akers had 98 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. It’s Akers’ best game this season. Granted that it’s against Wake Forest, that should still light up a fire beneath him heading into a giant showdown with Clemson. The ‘Noles will also focus on slowing down Clemson’s offense. They showed their readiness in that area by recording five sacks in the Wake Forest game. In fact, Florida State is stops in the ACC with 25.0 sacks.
Florida State is 4-2 ATS in its last six home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Clemson wins, 38-20.
