Experts’ Picks for 2015 College Football Week 10

CBS Sports

Navy at Memphis (-8.5) MEM NAVY NAVY NAVY NAVY NAVY
Florida State at Clemson (-11.5) FSU FSU CLE FSU CLE FSU
Notre Dame at Pittsburgh (+7.5) ND ND PITT PITT PITT PITT

LSU at Alabama (-5.5) LSU ALA LSU LSU LSU ALA

[sc:NCAA240banner ]The panel of six college football experts over at CBSSports.com are very bullish about some underdogs’ chances of covering the spread in their Week 10 matchups. Five out of the six picked both Navy and Minnesota to cover on the road, with Dennis Dodd the lone expert to pick both Memphis and Ohio State.

A big reason those experts are going all in on the Gophers is that the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes will be without quarterback J.T. Barrett, who was suspended for operating a vehicle while impaired. With Barrett taking charge of snaps in the red zone three games ago, the Buckeyes have averaged 45.3 points per game, and have covered the last two games. In their first five games with Cardale Jones running the show, they went just 1-4 ATS.

Four out of the six experts believe both Florida State (even with the injury doubts surrounding Everett Golson and Dalvin Cook) and LSU can cover on the road against their fierce division rivals. Meanwhile, the panel is split down the middle about Baylor’s ability to cover 17.5 points at Kansas State, in large part because it’ll be freshman Jarrett Stidham’s first career start at quarterback.

Athlon Sports

GAME Steven Lassan Mitch Light David Fox Braden Gall Mark Ross
LSU at Alabama ALA ALA ALA ALA LSU
FSU at Clemson CLE CLE CLE CLE CLE
Utah at Washington UTAH WASH UTAH UTAH UTAH
TCU at Oklahoma State TCU TCU TCU TCU TCU
Iowa at Indiana IOWA IND IOWA IOWA IOWA

The five-man expert panel over at Athlon Sports is united in the belief that both Clemson and TCU will come out of their tricky conference matchups unscathed. However, the same cannot be said of Alabama-LSU, where Mark Ross believes the Tigers can pull off the upset at Tuscaloosa. If anyone can run on Alabama’s outstanding run defense, it’ll most likely be Heisman favorite Leonard Fournette.

Meanwhile, Mitch Light stuck his neck out not once, but twice, as he predicts that both Washington and Indiana will get huge home wins over ranked opposition. You might remember that Washington has already claimed one big upset against USC, and is coming off a 49-3 domination of Arizona. Indiana was also one fourth-and-goal conversion away from sending Ohio State to overtime at home.

Bleacher Report

GAME PICK
Notre Dame (-7.5) at Pitt Notre Dame
FSU (+12) at Clemson FSU
TCU (-5) at Oklahoma State Oklahoma State
Utah (+1) at Washington Washington
Minnesota (+23.5) at Ohio State Minnesota
LSU at Alabama (-6.5) Alabama

Brian Leigh over on Bleacher Report is also going heavy on the underdogs, as he picked Florida State, Oklahoma State, and Minnesota to win against the spread. Leigh points out how TCU has underperformed on the road this season. The Horned Frogs have gone just 1-3 ATS away from home this season, with close calls at Texas Tech and Kansas State.

However, he’s a believer in Alabama’s defense, not only to stop the force of nature that is Leonard Fournette, but also to limit LSU quarterback Brandon Harris’s effectiveness throwing the football. Alabama’s much-improved pass defense is No. 1 in the SEC in interceptions (12) and passer rating allowed (100.54).
