Betting on the Colorado Rockies
Colorado’s pitching has been a big problem especially of late. In the five games prior to the series opener against the Giants, the Rockies allowed an average of 9.6 runs. Needless to say, they lost all those contests.
Antonio Senzatela will look to change the narrative when he steps on the mound later tonight against the Giants. Senzatela last pitched on June 26, also against the Giants, tossing two scoreless innings of relief in a 9-2 road loss in San Francisco. Prior to that, he was shelled for nine earned runs on eight hits in five innings of a 10-3 home loss to Arizona. Senzatela is 9-3 this season, largely because of the Rockies’ offense that rarely let him down. Senzatela is getting 8.35 runs support per nine innings this season—the most among all qualified starters in the majors.
The over is 4-0 in Senzatela’s last four starts overall.
Betting on the San Francisco Giants
It has gone cold for Ty Blach, whose last four starts have ended in San Francisco losses. That includes the 7-5 road loss to Colorado on June 18, when he yielded three earned runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings of mound duty. Over his last four starts, Blach has gone 0-3 with a 9.28 ERA.
Black will get a shot at avenging that earlier loss to Colorado later tonight, this time at home. Blach is 2-3 with a 4.23 ERA in 10 total game appearances, which includes seven starts.
As for the offense, the Giants hopes to duplicate the shellacking they administered on Senzatela on June 16, when they battered the Rockies pitcher for five runs on six hits in six innings of a 10-8 victory.
Denard Span and Buster Posey are among the top performing hitters this month for the Giants. They are batting .347 and .345, respectively, this June.
Writer’s Prediction
