Betting on the Creighton Bluejays (odds)

Record: 12-7 Overall/4-4 Conference

Creighton absorbed another loss last Saturday, as the Bluejays fell prey to the Xavier Musketeers at home, 74-64. Prior to that, Creighton got upset by the Butler Bulldogs on the road on Jan. 26, 72-55. The Bluejays have not lost three games in a row this season, so that’s something they want to avoid this Tuesday. Despite their recent struggles, UConn can’t be taken lightly. This is a team that owns wins against the likes of the BYU Cougars, Villanova Wildcats, and Marquette Golden Eagles. Creighton is looking to get Ryan Nembhard going again after the guard put up 23 points in the loss to Xavier. The Bluejays’ poor outside shooting is hurting the team but they are excellent inside the arc, as Creighton is 29th in the nation with a 55.1 two-point shooting percentage. Ryan Kalkbrenner, Creighton’s 7-1 center, is 16th nationally in effective field goal percentage and ninth in true shooting rate.

The over is 2-0 in Creighton’s last two games overall.

Betting on the Connecticut Huskies (odds)

Record: 15-4 Overall/6-2 Conference

UConn has clearly moved on from a slow 1-2 start to conference play. After losing to the Seton Hall Pirates earlier this month, the Huskies have stitched together five wins in a row. The last time they were on the court, the Huskies defeated the DePaul Blue Demon Deacons on the road, 57-50, on the road. Riding a big wave of momentum, UConn will look to add to the woest of the Bluejays. The Huskies are brandishing a much more efficient offense than Creighton in conference play. Connecticut is second in the Big East with 110.5 points per 100 possessions and third in the conference in adjusted defensive efficiency with just 96.3 points per 100 possessions. RJ Cole scored nearly half of UConn’s points in the DePaul game, dropping 25 points in 34 minutes, but apart from his scoring, the Huskies will lean on their defense against Creighton.

UConn, which is fourth in the nation in opponent’s shooting percentage, is 2-0 against the spread in its last two games overall.

Writer’s Prediction

UConn wins, 73-62.
