The Dallas Cowboys are still on a win streak as they stretched their undefeated run to three games with a 25-10 destruction of the Washington Commanders last Sunday. The Cowboys hit the road for Week 5 to face the Los Angeles Rams, who just suffered their second loss of the season Monday in a 24-9 defeat at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. Will the Cowboys victimize the reigning Super Bowl champions to continue their winning ways? Or will the Rams recapture their form and trip up the Cowboys? First off, it does not appear that Dak Prescott will be able to get a green light this week. Reports suggest that it might take at least one more week before he finally gets to return to action from a hand injury. Nevertheless, the Cowboys are undefeated without Prescott, with their defense and the stable handling of the quarterbacking chores of Cooper Rush, who passed for 223 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions on 15/27 completions versus the Commanders.
The Cowboys, who are allowing just 15.5 points per game this season, are 5-0 against the spread in their last five contests away from home.
It’s been two straight games now that the Rams have not had a passing touchdown. That is quite alarming but it’s not about a question of talent downfield and of Stafford as much as it is about the poor pass protection Los Angeles is providing the quarterback. The Rams allowed Stafford to get sacked seven times for a loss of 54 yards in the loss to San Francisco. If there’s one thing you need to monitor on the Rams, it’s the statuses of some of their key players on the offensive line heading into Week 5. In any case, they still have Cooper Kupp who just keeps on producing. Kupp had 122 receiving yards on 14 receptions and 19 targets in Week 4.
