Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (6-4)
Guess who’s got the best quarterback rating in the NFL outside of Russell Wilson? It’s Not Lamar Jackson. It’s not even Patrick Mahomes. Rather, it’s Dak Prescott, who has a QBR of 77.8 — second best in the NFL. Prescott has been an incredible presence in the pocket for Dallas. In the Cowboys’ 35-27 road win over the Detroit Lions in Week 11, Prescott generated 444 passing yards and three touchdowns without an interception on 29-of-46 completions. Thanks to Prescott, wide receiver Randall Cobb has seen his career have a second wind, especially of late. Cobb has 115 receiving yards and a touchdown on four catches in the Lions game. He also caught six catches for 106 yards and a TD in Week 10’s home loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The Patriots’ defense will be a tough challenge for Dallas’ offense, but Prescott has an assortment of weapons around him outside of Cobb. Michael Gallup, Amari Cooper, and Dak Prescott should stretch the Patriots’ stop unit.
The Cowboys are 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last four games.
Betting on the New England Patriots (9-1)
The Patriots looked like they were going to lose their second in a row when they fell behind early in their Week 11 match against the Philadelphia Eagles, but they managed to come back and finish the game with a 17-10 road win. And once again, it was the team’s defense that guided the Patriots. Carson Wentz came up with just a 38.2 quarterback rating and was picked off once and got sacked five times for a loss of 40 yards. Philly also rushed for only 81 yards on 21 carries. If Tom Brady can play better and complement New England’s outstanding defense, the Patriots should be able to take care of business against Dallas. Brady completed just 26 of 47 passes for 216 yards with zero touchdowns. The Patriots have the best scoring defense in the NFL with only 10.8 points allowed per game.
The reigning Super Bowl champions are 5-1 ATS in their last six games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Cowboys win, 22-21.
