Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (-4)
Regular Season Record: 4-1
The Cowboys just keep on winning. After stumbling out of the gate with a 31-29 road loss in Week 1 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Cowboys have racked up four wins in a row, a stretch that includes their 44-20 demolition job of the New York Giants in Week 6 at home. Now, the Cowboys will step out of their home for the first time in four weeks. With that said, it’s worth noting that the road team in this Cowboys-Patriots matchup has gone 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings. Dak Prescott, who’s looking more and more the favorite to win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors passed for 302 yards and three touchdowns with an interception on 22/32 completions against the Giants. This season, he already has 1,368 passing yards and 13 TDs against only three interceptions. Cornerback Trevon Diggs now has six interceptions this season, and he’ll be a huge threat to the rookie arm of Mac Jones this weekend.
The Cowboys are 5-0 against the spread in their last 5 games overall.
Betting on the New England Patriots (+4)
Regular Season Record: 2-3
The Patriots snapped a two-game losing skid by scoring a 25-22 come-from-behind win over the Houston Texas on the road in Week 5. Mac Jones is still experiencing growing pains under center, but the rookie quarterback was decent against Houston. He went 23/30 for 231 passing yards and a touchdown with an interception. New England could smell an opportunity to upset the Cowboys in Foxborough. Not many people feel confident with the Patriots right now against a streaking Dallas team, but it was not that long ago when Jones and company gave Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers a run for their money in a 19-17 home loss in Week 4. Plus, the Patriots are 10-2 against the spread in their last 12 games as a home underdog.
Moreover, the Patriots are 5-3 against the spread in their last eight home games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Cowboys win, 27-23.
