Matt Patricia’s first season as head coach of the Detroit Lions hasn’t gone according to his plan, but a win this coming Sunday will at least send them into the offseason feeling a bit good about themselves. However, that’s also the same mission by Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, who are also seeking a revenge for their earlier loss to the Lions. Read on for a preview of this matchup below where the Packers are a favorite (at the sportsbook) by more than a TD.

Betting on the Detroit Lions (5-10)
It’s been a forgettable season for the Lions, but another win against the Packers this year would be a nice way to end their campaign. Detroit beat the Packers at home, 31-23, way back in Week 4, with solid performances from quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receiver Kenny Golladay, and running back LeGarrette Blount. In that game, Stafford only had 183 passing yards but had two touchdowns with zero interceptions. Golladay had 98 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Blount produced two rushing scores. Those are the same trio the Lions are expecting to deliver the goods against the Packers, and as bad as Detroit has been this season, Green Bay’s porous defense can make any struggling team’s attack look like a work of art. The Packers are allowing 24.6 points per game and had just given up 44 points to the New York Jets last Sunday. As for Detroit, it’s averaging 20.3 per game, so far this season.
The Lions are 3-0 ATS in their last three games against Green Bay.
Betting on the Green Bay Packers (6-8-1)
Aaron Rodgers has already expressed his undying determination to play in meaningless games, so expect the quarterback to show up against the Lions. Instead of a spot in the playoffs, his main motivation will be settling a score with Detroit this season. Rodgers had a fantastic performance in the earlier loss to Detroit in which he threw for 442 yards and three touchdowns without an interception on 32-of-52 completions. However, he was sacked four times for a loss of 19 yards, so it’ll be of paramount importance for Green Bay to give Rodgers the best pass protection. The Packers also allowed four sacks in last Sunday’s 44-38 overtime road loss to the New York Jets. Meanwhile, running back Jamaal Williams will look to duplicate what he did in the Jets game wherein he rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. The same case for wide receiver Davante Adams, who has recorded at least 100 yards and a touchdown in each game of the season so far.
The Packers are 4-2 ATS in their last six home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Green Bay wins, 31-24.
