The Detroit Lions are hoping that their regular season will not look anything like their first two games of the preseason, as they have yet to win an exhibition game thus far. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, meanwhile, are 2-0 entering the third week of the preseason and are looking to get third third-straight win at the expense of the Lions.
The Lions are +700 to win the NFC North, while the Bucs have longer odds of +1,000 to end up on top of the NFC South once the regular season concludes.

Betting on the Detroit Lions (0-2 Preseason Record)
Sure, it’s just the preseason, but some of the problems that troubled the Lions in 2017 continue to hobble them to this day. Detroit still can’t generate pressure for opposing quarterbacks. In their 30-17 loss to the New York Giants last week, the Lions registered a grand total of zero sacks. It’s the same number of sacks they had when they lost to the Oakland Raiders back in Week 1 of the preseason. Conversely, the Lions also have to get better protecting their own quarterback, as their offensive line just allowed four sacks for a loss of 23 yards in the Giants game. The Lions could be at least a man down on defense against Tampa Bay, as linebacker Steve Longa seemed to have hurt his knee during the loss to Detroit.
The Lions are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 road games in the preseason.
Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0 Preseason Record)
Jameis Winston was sensational last week, passing for 226 yards and two touchdowns without an interception on 13-of-18 completions during Tampa Bay’s 30-14 win over the Tennessee Titans. But as flawless as he looked, Winston will not be with the team for the first three games of the regular season to serve a suspension. Perhaps, it’s also why he’s been playing this good in the preseason, so expect another fantastic outing for the Bucs’ quarterback against the Lions, who, as mentioned earlier, have trouble getting into their opponents’ pocket. Tampa Bay’s offensive line, however, is likely to make that hard for Lions’ pass rushers, as the Bucs have allowed just two sacks in as many games this preseason.
The totals have gone under in each of the Bucs’ last three games in the preseason.
Writer’s Prediction
Tampa Bay wins, 24-17.
