Betting on the Florida State Seminoles (11-2)
Florida State is coming off of a confidence building week, pushing No. 4 Duke to the limit in a 100-93 loss which they followed up with a win against No. 12 North Carolina 81-80 in Tallahassee. The Seminoles do have a tough schedule however, as they take on No. 15 Miami on the road on Sunday before returning home to meet Louisville. They will be looking to take this week’s momentum into both.
Betting on the Miami Hurricanes (12-2)
Miami head coach Jim Larranaga is a bit concerned about his Hurricanes, who dropped another game this week in a meeting against Georgia Tech, a game that saw Miami go on a near 7-minute scoring drought and resulted in a final tally of 64-54 in favor of the Yellow Jackets. Since leaving home on December 5, the Hurricanes barely squeaked out a single digit win against George Washington, lost their first game to New Mexico State in Hawaii, and then lost this week to Georgia Tech, leaving them with a current record of 12-2 overall and 1-1 in the ACC. OK, it’s not the end of the world, but is it the proverbial sign of things to come or can the Hurricanes calm the storm and return to form?
Writer’s Prediction
This meeting will be all about momentum, and that’s all in Florida State’s favor. The Hurricane’s will drop yet another this weekend before turning things around in the back half of the season. Pick: Florida State Seminoles for the win.
