Betting on the Indiana Hoosiers (11-5, 1-2 Big Ten)
Sure Yogi Ferrell is no longer around Bloomington, but that doesn’t mean the Hoosiers have forgotten how to score. In fact, they remain among the best in the nation in finding the bottom of the net, averaging 85.9 points per game to go with a 58.5 effective field goal percentage—No. 5 in Division I ball.
Scoring has been down of late for the Hoosiers, however, as they put up just 75.3 points over the last three games. That’s not entirely surprising considering that Indiana battled No. 6 Louisville, No. 13 Wisconsin—and lost in both games—during that span.
After losing to Louisville and Wisconsin, the Hoosiers recovered their mojos with a 96-80 home victory over Illinois. Blackmon and Thomas Bryant had a field day abusing the Fighting Illini’s defense, scoring 25 and 20, respectively. The Hoosiers have four players averaging at least 10 PPG led by Blackmon who puts up 17.3 PPG.
Indiana will also look to dominate the boards. The Hoosiers are sixth in the nation in rebounds (42.4 per game). They are 3-1 ATS in the last four meetings with Maryland.
Betting on the Maryland Terrapins (14-2, 2-1 Big Ten)
If the Terps’ 77-70 road win over Michigan on Saturday was any indication, then expect a mad shootout tonight in College Park.
Maryland lit up from deep against the Wolverines, knocking down 10 threes on 15 attempts. Junior reserve Jared Nickens came off the bench and scored 12 points while going 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. Damonte Dodd and Justin Jackson led the team with 15 points apiece. Hotshot junior Melo Trimble, meanwhile, stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Trimble is the best player on the team, averaging 17.5 PPG on 45.6% shooting from the field.
The Terps aren’t as high scoring as Indiana but they could get plenty of extra scoring opportunities against an error-prone Hoosiers squad that cough up the ball 11.4 times per game or 18.1% of their total possessions. The Hoosiers had 12 against Illinois.
Maryland, which allows just 65.3 PPG, is 3-1 ATS in its last four home games.
