Betting on the Indianapolis Colts (0-1)

In Andrew Luck’s first regular/postseason game in over 500 days, the Colts lost to the Cincinnati Bengals, 34-23 in Week 1. Despite the loss, it’s a sigh of relief for Colts fans that their franchise quarterback is healthy again. Luck threw for 319 yards and two touchdowns against an interception. Luck will face next a testy Redskins defense that rendered Arizona’s Sam Bradford ineffective. That said, Bradford is not Luck, who will look for Ryan Grant and his pair of towering tight ends downfield. Tight ends Jack Doyle and Eric Ebron will clearly play an integral role in the Colts’ passing attack based on the way they were utilized in the Cincinnati game. Doyle caught seven of 10 targets for 60 yards, while Ebron had 51 receiving yards on four receptions. T.Y. Hilton will always get the brunt of the opposing defense’s focus, so Grant will also have to capitalize. While Hilton caught just five of 11 targets for 46 yards and a TD, Grant pulled down eight receptions and turned them into 51 receiving yards.

The under is 4-0 in the Colts’ last four road games.

Betting on the Washington Redskins (1-0)

If the Redskins’ 24-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1 is any indication, Washington fans will find it easier to move on from seeing Kirk Cousins depart in free agency. That’s because Cousins’ replacement seem to be just as good – if not better than Minnesota’s quarterback. Smith passed for 255 yards and touchdowns on 21-of-30 completions against the Cards. The team’s run-pass option heavy offense exploited Arizona’s defense. With that, Washington was able to generate 182 rushing yards. Veteran Adrian Peterson showed he’s still got it by rushing for 96 yards and a touchdown on 26 touches. He also caught two passes for 70 yards. Peterson also lost a fumble, but  it’s merely a rare incident more than anything else. Defensively, the Redskins allowed just 213 total yards to Arizona, which had to bleed for yards in the contest.

The Redskins have a three-game win streak at home. They are also 3-0 ATS in those games dating back to last season.

Writer’s Prediction

Washington wins, 28-23.
