Game Preview

Philip Rivers threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns Sunday afternoon, but couldn’t manage to lead the San Diego Chargers to a victory against the defensively-challenged Baltimore Ravens. Instead, the Chargers were on the bad end of a 29-26 loss. Wide receiver Malcom Floyd shined with 92 yards and two scores, while Keenan Allen caught the other of Rivers’ scoring passes.

[sc:NFL240banner ]Rivers could extend his touchdown spree against a very open Chicago defense. The Bears have allowed 16 passing touchdowns this season, the third-most in the league. But they did show some promise in limiting Minnesota on Sunday, albeit in a 26-23 loss. The Bears limited second-year quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to 17 of 30 for 187 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

While the San Diego passing attack could get going in this game, so can Chicago’s. The Bears have Jay Cutler at quarterback, who’s thrown a touchdown in each game this season. Cutler can exploit a San Diego defense, which has allowed 8.2 yards per pass attempt and 14 total touchdowns this season. He’ll have to rely on wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey to get going. Jeffrey led the team with 116 yards and a score against Minnesota.

Marquess Wilson and tight end Martellus Bennet could also be big targets, each having over 200 yards this season. Chicago’s passing game will need to be especially good for this game. The rushing offense suffered a big hit after Matt Forte exited the Week 8 game against the Vikings with a knee injury.

Hot Wager

Philip Rivers

Despite the two teams giving up plenty of touchdown passes this season, the under has plenty of value. The Bears have been under machines this season, and have been against AFC West teams. Meanwhile, the Chargers have taken part in their fair share of games going under the total this season. The total has gone under in four of the Chargers’ last seven games.

This could be a tight, low-scoring game between two struggling teams. Take the under as a hot wager on Monday night.

Writer’s Prediction

The Chargers have more healthy pieces in their passing game, which should ultimately lead to the win and cover. Create a betting account now and catch the exciting primetime games to come this year.
