There aren’t a lot of mid-majors in the AP Top 25 rankings, but the No. 6 Nevada Wolf Pack (+1,400 to win the national title) are among them. However, a weaker conference means that they can’t afford to lose in the Mountain West Conference play. After winning their first game of their MWC schedule, the Wolf Pack will go for their 15th of the season against the New Mexico Lobos. Will Nevada remain unbeaten? Or will the Lobos (+100,000) shock the college world?

Betting on the Nevada Wolfpack (14-0 Overall / 1-0 Conference)
Thew Wolf Pack are still undefeated and they intend to stay that way after their meeting with the New Mexico Lobos this coming weekend. Nevada is the unquestioned favorite to win the Mountain West Conference, and they look every bit the part each passing week. In their last game, the Wolf Pack wrapped the Utah State Aggies in explosives in a lopsided 72-49 win at home. Jordan Caroline led the team with 15 points, while Caleb and Cody Martin each had 14 points. Nevada’s offense is among the best in the nation, with so many players capable of taking the lead in scoring. The Wolf Pack have six players averaging at least 7.1 points per game. They are 25th in the nation with 82.0 points per contest on 46.3 percent shooting from the field. Plus, they’re incredibly efficient with their possessions, averaging only 7.7 turnovers per game.
The Wolf Pack are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games.
Betting on the New Mexico Lobos (7-6 Overall / 1-0 Conference)
It’s been a rough season thus far for the Lobos, who have already sustained six losses during non-conference play. They’re going to need more than just a great run in MWC play to get in the national tournament. They likely need to win the conference tournament. That’s not an easy task, but if the could take down the conference’s favorite in Nevada, things could change for them. New Mexico, however, has one of the worst defenses in the nation. They are 302nd in Division I basketball with 79.8 points allowed per game. One thing that’s going to help them in their bid to take down a team like Nevada is their three-point shooting. The Lobos are No. 1 in the conference with 9.8 3-pointers made per game on a respectable 36.5 percent shooting from deep. The Lobos need to cut down on their turnovers, though, as they are committing 15.6 errors per contest – 306th in the nation.
The Lobos are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 meetings with Nevada dating back to 2013.
Writer’s Prediction
Nevada wins, 90-70.
