New Orleans Pelicans vs OKC Thunder Predictions, Picks, Odds and Betting Preview – February 2 2018

Life without DeMarcus Cousins is hard for the New Orleans Pelicans, but its not like they are just going to pack their bags and leave the NBA temporarily. They still are inside the playoff picture in the Western Conference, and the Pelicans’ front office could be cooking a trade to get help for Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday. Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder want nothing but to get back in the win column after a disappointing loss to the Washington Wizards.

Betting on the New Orleans Pelicans (27-23)

The loss of the DeMarcus Cousins to a season-ending injury is a true bummer for the Pelicans, who have lost two of their last two games. With Cousins out of the picture, the Pelicans have to rely on the likes Dante Cunningham and Omer Asik to try and do their best to fill in for Cousins’ void. That’s impossible to do for those two scrubs, so the bulk of the work in the frontcourt is back on the shoulders of Anthony Davis, who scored 23 points in a 114-103 loss at home Tuesday against Sacramento. So long as Davis is healthy and playing, the Pelicans will remain a tricky team to face. Davis scored 36 points and had 15 rebounds to go with two blocks in a 114-107 win over Oklahoma City on Nov. 20. Davis should get help from Jrue Holiday, who is third on the team in scoring with 18.7 points per game. The Pellies are 3-1 SU and 3-1 ATS in their last four road games.

Betting on the OKC Thunder (30-21)

Point Spread: (click here)

The Thunder surprisingly lost to the John Wall-less Washington Wizards on the road Tuesday, 102-96, ending OKC’s eight-game win streak. Reigning MVP Russell Westbrook had an offnight against the Wizards, as he only had 13 points though he also finished with 10 assists and six rebounds in 36 minutes of action. The Thunder shot poorly in that game, going 37.5 percent from the field, but they have a tasty opportunity to get back on track against the Pelicans, who are allowing the second-most points to opponents With Boogie Cousins out, Westbrook and company should have a better day getting in the paint, attacking the basket, and getting more rebounds. Steven Adams’ job becomes a whole lot easier with Cousins unable to play. Paul George, meanwhile, is having a blast of late, as he has averaged 26.2 points in his last five games. He led the Thunder with 26 points in the previous tilt with New Orleans. The Thunder are 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in their last four home game against the Pelicans.

Writer’s Prediction:

Oklahoma wins, 111-105.
