At long last, the matchup for Super Bowl 51 has been set. The New England Patriots return for their record 9th trip to the Super Bowl after they smashed the Pittsburgh Steelers. They’ll face the Atlanta Falcons, who throttled Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers to reach their first Super Bowl since 1999. The Pats opened as 3-point favorites over the Falcons on virtually all sportsbooks. This isn’t too surprising given the Pats are the more public team and will be going to the big game for the 7th time in the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era. The Pats seem to always be involved in very close Super Bowls. Their last six all have been decided by four points or fewer.

If this total stays as is, it would be the highest in Super Bowl history, beating the 57-point total for the Saints-Colts game in Super Bowl XLIV.
