Betting on the Oklahoma State Cowboys (odds)
Record: 8-6 Overall / 1-2 Conference
The Cowboys are having a rough time winning games since December. They are just 2-5 straight up in their last seven games, which includes their 70-60 road loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers on Tuesday. However, Oklahoma State scored a big win over the Texas Longhorns on Jan. 8 at home. It’s simply been a dog-eat-dog world in the Big 12, with some of those Texas losses coming at the hands of ranked teams like the Houston Cougars and the Kansas Jayhawks. But that victory against the Longhorns gives Oklahoma State the impression that it can put together a performance enough to beat any team. Baylor is going to be a tough assignment for the Cowboys, but the Bears could still be ripe for an upset loss after they lost to the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Waco Tuesday. If the Cowboys were to beat Baylor, they will have to do it with their defense that’s been among the best in the nation. Oklahoma is 12th in the nation with 91.4 points allowed per 100 possessions.
Oklahoma State, which plays the Raed Raiders on Thursday, is 3-0 against the spread in its last three games as the road team versus the Bears.
Betting on the Baylor Bears (odds)
Record: 15-1 Overall / 3-1 Conference Conference
Baylor’s armor of invincibility has finally been destroyed after the reigning national champion lost to the Red Raiders at home on Tuesday, 65-62. The Bears simply got contained by the Red Raiders’ tight defense. Baylor shot just 41.1 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from behind the arc. That’s going to be an inspiration for Oklahoma State. However, the Cowboys will still need their unreliable offense to wake up against Baylor’s own tough defense. Oklahoma State is behind the top 100 in the nation in terms of scoring and is also a sub-200 team when it comes to effective field goal percentage. Meanwhile, the Bears have an elite balance of great offense and solid defense. In fact, Baylor is fourth in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency and 10th in adjusted defensive efficiency.
Baylor is 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 home games.
Writer’s Prediction
Baylor wins, 75-62.
