Betting on the Philadelphia Eagles (3-3)
It was a forgettable Week 6 for the Eagles, who got gutted by Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings in a 38-20 road loss. The Eagles’ defense was barely existent, while Carson Wentz and Philly’s offense could not match the Vikings’ attack. Wentz went 26 for 40 for 306 passing yards and two touchdowns with an interception, while Jordan Howard rushed for a team-leading 49 yards on 13 carries. The meeting with the Cowboys figures to be an easier job for the Eagles, given the form of Dallas’ of late. The Cowboys picked apart teams that not expected to make the playoffs in the early goings of the season, but got exposed when faced with stronger opponents. The Eagles may be coming off a bad loss, but Wentz has the tools and the weapons around him to take advantage of Dallas’ declining form. The Eagles are still ninth in the NFL with 26.8 points per game.
The Eagles, who are also rushing for 111.2 yards per game, are 5-4-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 contests.
Betting on the Dallas Cowboys (3-3)
Should Dallas really pay Dak Prescott the extension money he is reportedly looking for? Based on how the Cowboys’ offense is performing of late, Prescott can kiss that bag of money goodbye. The Cowboys have lost three consecutive games heading into Week 7. Their last game resulted in a humiliating 24-22 defeat at the hands of Sam Darnold and the New York Jets on the road. The Cowboys’ offense may also have just gotten thinner with Amari Cooper questionable for the Eagles game due to a quad injury. Randall Cobb could also miss yet another game, as he continues to deal with a back issue. That said, the Cowboys still have the likes of Michael Gallup and Jason Witten as weapons downfield for Prescott. The Eagles are missing bodies in their secondary, which largely explained Cousins’ explosion a week ago, so that’s a big plus for the Cowboys, who are third in the league in passing yards per game with 304.8 passing yards per game.
The Cowboys are 6-3-1 ATS in their last 10 games.
Writer’s Prediction
The Eagles win, 27-21.
