The Baltimore Ravens are favored by a field-goal going into their home game on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. To put that in context, consider that home-field advantage is usually worth about three points when it coms to the betting spread. What that means, is that both squads are seen as being relatively equal. The Lions (6-5) are coming off their first loss in four games, and are 1-1 in two all-time trips to Baltimore. On the road, the Detroit Lions are 4-1 straight up and 3-1-1 ATS while the Baltimore Ravens are 3-2 SU and 2-3 ATS when playing at M&T Bank Stadium.

Betting on the Detroit Lions (6-5)
The NFC is ultra competitive, and the Detroit Lions need to treat this as a must win because a loss here could make them be on the outside looking in when the playoffs role around. They are coming in off a big loss against the Minnesota Vikings. Although they came back at the end, they were dominated in the first half, and the offense struggled for most of the game even though they put up 23 points.
The Ravens run some similar sets on the defensive side of the ball as the Vikings, so the Lions are going to have to figure out something. For the most part this year the Lions have been good on the offensive side of the ball. They are currently averaging 26.7 points per game which is 5th in the NFL.
On the defensive side the Lions haven’t been great, but they seem to make big stops when it matters the most, and that has led to some victories. The defense in this game needs to make Joe Flacco uncomfortable in the pocket, and hope he will get happy feet and throw some interceptions.
Betting on the Baltimore Ravens (6-5)
On the other side of this match up is the Baltimore Ravens who come into this game having won two games in a row and have climbed themselves back into playoff contention.
In their last game against Houston it wasn’t pretty by any means, but they won by a final score of 23-16 and that is the most important part. When the Ravens have struggled this year it has been because of Joe Flacco. He comes into this game having thrown for nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
In this game Flacco needs to have a good game. The Lions have a good offense and Flacco is going to need to try and keep up. The Lions also have struggled against the run this year, and the Ravens need to try and establish that early.
Writer’s Prediction
The Lions are the better offensive team, and that will be the difference in this game. I think Stafford will have a huge game and that will lead the Lions to a victory in a high scoring game. Pick: Detroit (+3)
