Betting on the San Francisco 49ers (3-8)

What a heart-breaker for the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners suffered their second-straight setback and their fourth loss in five games against the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday. Carson Palmer’s efforts proved to be just enough to guide his team to an entertaining 19-13 triumph.

[sc:NFL240banner ]Palmer converted 24 of his 40 passes for 271 yards and delivered the biggest play of the game during the fourth quarter. He ran for the crucial 8-yard touchdown to give his Cards the lead for good and eventually their ninth win of the year.

The Niners themselves were also a major reason for their own downfall. Their defense stood firm all throughout but they committed 13 penalties for 81 yards which gave Arizona a little boost. They’ll have another chance to get back on track when they pay the Chicago Bears a visit at Soldier Field for their Week 13 showdown.

Blaine Gabbert has been quite more efficient than Colin Kaepernick behind center. However, it still hasn’t resulted to points as they are still dead-last in the league with only 13.8 points per game. Gabbert, who passed for a career-high of 318 yards against Arizona, ought to be more aggressive in executing their offensive drives.

Furthermore, they would be smart to increase their running plays in this game since the Bears’ front seven has been really shaky. It’s averaging 128.5 rushing yards allowed per game this season, the fourth-highest in the NFL. That said, don’t be surprised to see Shaun Draughn get a lot of touches once again.

Draughn has been filling in for the injured Carlos Hyde as the team’s No. 1 running back. He was signed by the Niners earlier this month and has rumbled for 146 yards on 43 carries through three games.

San Francisco is 0-5 SU and 1-4 ATS on the road this season.

San Francisco 49ers vs Chicago Bears Predictions, Picks and Preview

Defense wins games. The Chicago Bears proved exactly just that when they got the huge upset over Green Bay on Thursday night. They held their division rivals to a season-low of 13 points and limited the reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers to 202 passing yards with a single touchdown.

It was indeed a memorable Thanksgiving for Jay Cutler as well. He finally walked out of Lambeau Field with his hands up high and with a smile on his face. Cutler threw for 200 yards and connected with TE Zach Miller for the 3-yard score.

The Bears have now won three of their last four games and have kept in step in the NFC wild-card race. They’ll now strive to make it back-to-back wins when they head back to Soldier Field for an impending clash with the San Francisco 49ers this weekend.

In order to do so, they’ll have to lean on the pair of Matt Forte and Jeremy Langford to lead their ground attack opposite a San Francisco defense that’s surrendering 397.9 yards of total offense. The two running backs have been playing really well for the Bears this season, rumbling for 890 yards and eight touchdowns combined.

Meanwhile, they also have another lethal offensive threat in WR Alshon Jeffery. Jeffery snagged seven of 11 targets for 90 yards against the Packers. He also holds a team-best of 605 receiving yards along with two touchdowns under his belt.

Chicago is 3-2 SU and 2-3 ATS in its past five meetings with the Niners.
