Betting on the Serbia (+2)
The Serbians failed to move on to the gold medal match, as they lost to Team USA in the semifinals, 79-59. The Americans were simply on a higher level than Serbia and it showed in that game, wherein the latter put up its lowest offensive output so far in the tournament. No starter scored in double figures for Serbia, but Yvonne Anderson came off the bench and put up 15 points. Anderson is the player to watch out for Serbia. She is leading her team with 12.0 points per game. But Serbia is also hoping for Jelena Brooks to rebound strongly from her performance in the Team USA game. She only scored five points in that game on 2/7 shooting from the field. In the game before that, Brooks scored 18 points in their 77-70 win over China in the quarterfinals. Serbia is a slightly better outside-shooting team than France. The Serbians are making 32.1 percent of their 3-pointe attempts to just 30.4 percent of France.
Betting on the France (-2)
Despite finishing group play with just a 1-2 record, France made it all the way to the semis, thanks to its quarterfinals win over Spain to the tune of a 67-64 score. France’s dreams of winning the gold medal and making it to the final stage just like their male counterparts came to an end in an 87-71 loss to Japan. France got victimized by the Japanese’s hot outside shooting. Japan went 11/22 from behind the arc and shot 52.5 percent from the field. France should have an easier time defending against Serbia, however, as the Serbians are kist shooting 40 percent from the field and only 43.3 percent on their 2-point shots. France, on the other hand, is shooting 46 percent from the floor and 54.4 percent from inside the arc. The French also seem to have the deeper bench, as it is outsourcing Serbia’s reserves, 31.2 to 25.2 points per game.
